--- on a long weekend

Some days, there's no better pick-me-up than being able to fit into a Marks & Sparks tank top that's sized for 12-year-olds. Now if only their kids' clothes were priced a little lower, in proportion to say the amount of cloth that goes into one of those outfits, and I would've got the tank top --- and a couple other shirts, and pants, and skirts. In the end, though, I stuck to my budget and just got some straightforward (adult) underwear. I'm so sensible sometimes, even when shopping is supposed to help alleviate my weekend ennui.

Across the street, Tangs was a madhouse unto itself --- not because there was a particularly spectacular sale going on, but because curious folks just had to come see for themselves the newly renovated store. I want to say that's understandable because Tangs is a homegrown enterprise, a local institution --- but I suspect they would've done the same if it were a foreign department store. We were there in the vain hope of helping Sprite spend her vouchers, but the mindless hordes frightened us out within minutes.

The boys --- let's name the culprits here: Terz, Wahj, Boko and Dan --- have been playing networked Medal of Honor for three out of four nights this long weekend. The tick-tick-tick-tock of the game echoes in the next room as I blog this. We're not Halo 2 widows yet (link via mr brown), but the girls are definitely getting restless --- or in the case of Kay tonight, sleepy.

What the hell!? You fit into size 12-year old for skirts, pants and tops? What kind of Pilates are you doing? Age regression, body squishing, dwarf-fitting? My goodness...and I was just telling petite anglaise how skinny I was. Go ahead, I'm taking the punish position!

My body has not regressed, cousin dear. It's Marks & Sparks that has very different notions of what size 12-year-olds should be and what they should wear. You'd probably be able to wear their stuff for 9-year-olds...

I'm going to run out to Marks and Sparks the next time I need an ego boost. Thanks!!! However, believe you are smaller than me in the size dept...pants and skirts definitely. You're the same size as the aunt, whose pants I cannot fit into.

I'm not the size of the aunt, am I? *panic*

Er ... why do you have to sleep on the couch, Terz?

We've got a World of Warcraft beta account. The husband plays at night till 3 am then drags himself out of bed at around 9ish and I play all day and watch him play at night. No sleep for both of us.

No Xbox so no Halo 2 for us. :(

Oooh... a girls' size 12 ... *envy*

yeah...you're her pre-menopause size, I think. I remember she gave you a pair of really tiny grey skorts a long time ago, and I shuddered when I saw the waistline.

btw, buy skinny leg white pants. Fitted is the new cut!

Terz...why are you sleeping on the couch? What do you have against 12 year olds? Are you an ageist?

Those grey shorts are ancient history, man. They got tight on me at some point in early university days, I think. But they were some fine shorts --- better have been, at $200 apiece from Tyan! (Also, the only thing the aunt ever bought specifically for me.)

Wortjh noting thatM&S is a brit store. Brit 12 year olds are huge, obese motherf**kers who subsist on a diet of lard burgers and syrup. I would be surprised if you didn't fit into a size 12!
