My Walkman didn't even have an auto-reverse function, man.
However, I am too young (or perhaps my family was just not so technologically in-touch then) to know about 8-tracks.

Our first Walkman in 1984 had the auto-reverse function. It was cool later to have devices that actually kept consistent REV and FF buttons as opposed to trying to keep track of the current playback direction.
